King's Coast
™
Begin in Sesimbra, a popular fishing village
on the windswept Península de Setúbal, where
the landscape dramatically cuts away and marries the sea. This ride
takes you through the breathtaking Parque Natural Arrábida,
as you hug the roadways along the Atlantic ocean. Head along the
rim of the park which allows for the best panoramic views of the
180million year old Arrábida. You'll stay at the Castle of
St. Filipe, relaxing above the bay after a great day of riding.
Day two will be a quick return to the coast before
turning inland toward the village of Azeitão, known for award
winning wines, olive oil, and Queijo de Azeitão, a mouth-watering
cheese made from creamy sheep's milk. Enjoy a wine tasting before
visiting a 16th century tile artisan, then heading through the valley
to the luxurious Castelo de Palmela that afternoon. Day
three includes lounging in your castle haven, followed
by a final ride along a ridge of intricate windmills, and why not
top it off with a toast to your stay on the Costa Azul with another
wine tasting at one of the local farms? Never before
have luxury bike tours in Europe been so refreshing,
as when cycling on the blue coast!
